Our Story
From volcanic rock to precision growing
Grodan’s story began with an unexpected discovery: stone wool, a material made from volcanic rock, could create a highly controllable environment around plant roots.
In 1969, Grodan began developing stone wool growing media for horticulture, helping growers manage water and nutrients with greater precision. Since then, Grodan has continued advancing soilless growing through growing media, root-zone technology, research and cultivation expertise.
Today, Grodan supports professional growers around the world, from food and horticultural crops to commercial cannabis cultivation, with solutions designed to improve consistency, root-zone control and resource efficiency.
