What is the vegetative stage?
Establish the root system, canopy structure and plant strength needed for flowering.
The vegetative stage is where the crop gains momentum. After transplant, roots expand from the propagation plug into the growing media while plants develop the leaf area, branching and canopy structure needed to support flowering.
In the Grodan 5-Phase Model in Large Blocks, vegetative growth typically lasts about 7 to 14 days. Phase 2 ends when plants have developed sufficient vegetative tissue and leaf area to support flower production and the photoperiod is adjusted to induce flowering.
